Peripheral Mobilisation
Peripheral Mobilisation
This technique can be performed at the majority of joints within the body. We also perform spinal mobilisations on various joint/articulations within the spine. The aim being to increase joint motion by passively moving the joint within its range of motion. Overall, we want to improve the overall function of the joint to reduce stiffness and pain.
Further benefits:
- Relaxation
- Improve soft tissue flexibility
- Promote blood flow to the area
It is worth noting that the benefits of this technique are short lived. However, we use mobilisations along side other treatments, such as strengthening/stretching, in order to receive the best outcome and obtain long term benefit.
Finally, it is important to state that this type of treatment does not hurt but if you are having mobilisations done for the first time it can be slightly uncomfortable. But, as you receive more treatment the more uncomfortable it will become.
